Editorial Has potential
Deviant Anomalies is a detective VN with ambitious storytelling—a murder mystery layered with supernatural elements, government conspiracies, and character-driven investigation that has genuinely surprised players expecting pure adult content. The narrative and writing are its strongest points; the Chaterdale murder arc in particular draws praise for tone, pacing, and mystery craft. However, the game remains substantially unfinished at v0.9.5: many story routes are incomplete, character interactions are locked or unimplemented, and core features (like full dialogue options) are still marked "coming next update." The build suffers from severe usability problems on many systems—UI lag and unresponsive navigation plague Windows installations, making gameplay frustrating despite stable animations. The Android port is currently broken (flagged and removed from hosting). Download infrastructure is unreliable (Mega links repeatedly fail). For players invested in the story and willing to tolerate navigation delays and incomplete content, there is something genuinely compelling here; for everyone else, it remains a half-built experience. The developer's return after years of silence is welcome, but the gap between ambition and delivery remains wide.
