Dark Temptations has a compelling premise and strong character models, but the current build is severely hampered by broken progression systems and punishing navigation. Players consistently report getting stuck on objectives—most critically, a Wednesday bug that prevents story advancement entirely—and many abandon the game because the labyrinthine movement system (requiring 5–7 clicks to move between rooms) makes play feel tedious rather than immersive. The Insight system, introduced to replace walkthroughs, leaves players confused about what to do next, and multiple reviewers hit dead ends or softlocks that require rolling back or restarting. Those who push through praise the writing and story concept, but the gulf between what the game wants to be and what it currently delivers is too wide to ignore. A polished release would be worth revisiting; this draft is not ready.
Description
Dark Temptations is an adult visual novel following Dean, a young IT professional who makes a deal with a demon named Sathuriel to repeat the same week indefinitely until he is satisfied with his life. The demon asks only to observe. The core mechanic revolves around replaying the week, making different choices, and uncovering branching narratives based on decisions and character interactions across an expanding city environment. As Dean engages with multiple women—a goth coworker, a sheltered civil servant, an immigrant college friend, a struggling barista, and others—his actions cascade backward in time, altering relationships, attitudes, and even physical characteristics. The game explores the blurred line between helpful manipulation and genuine connection, examining moral questions about how far one is willing to go and the stakes if the demon breaks its promise. While filled with adult situations and sexual content, it presents serious ethical dilemmas rather than escapist fantasy.
