Editorial Meh
Daggers & Dewclaws is an early-access fantasy text adventure with multiple playable characters, each unlocking different story branches and intimate encounters. The core appeal — character variety, worldbuilding potential, and responsive writing to player choice — resonates with its audience, and the developer is shipping substantial content (an hour or two of play) rather than vaporware. However, the game suffers from significant technical friction: progression blockers (the Plaza and Writ quest lead nowhere; Clarissa's new scene is undiscoverable without Discord help), save-state bugs (character choices don't persist across scenes), and broken scene transitions that break story logic. These aren't cosmetic — players hit hard stops or find themselves looped into wrong narrative paths. The writing itself is uneven: some find the prose too uniform and succinct, and there's friction over content distribution (certain fetishes tied to specific characters, debate over whether gay content is sidelined). On the creative side, opinion splits: some praise the multi-protagonist approach and character interaction variety; others note the world feels thin, all NPCs are oddly welcoming, and the lack of human romance options (outside furry partners) narrows appeal. Art is minimal but serviceable; most players prefer the text focus anyway. This is a project with genuine design ambition that's held back by rough execution. If you enjoy furry erotica, early-access games, and don't mind debugging progression while you play, there's substance here. If you need a polished experience or human-centric romance, wait for a later build.
