Editorial Meh
Cyberstray 101 is a short linear visual novel (2–3 hours) about a student who discovers a worldwide time-travel event and jumps between his failing present-day life and a cyberpunk alternate world where he's already successful. The premise is intriguing and the 3D models, animations, and CG quantity are solid; Chinese and English text are provided. However, the story suffers from fragmented pacing—reviewers consistently report plot jumps that feel incomplete ("Did someone steal every 2nd page?"), a garbled English translation (likely machine-assisted), and a core issue that undermines the whole experience: the game offers "choice" prompts with only one selectable option each, creating false interactivity that frustrates rather than engages. Adult scenes are plentiful but often tease without payoff, and the narrative doesn't always explain why characters transition between scenes. For a kinetic novel, the fake choices shouldn't be there; the writing needs polish; and at the full price, the shortness and narrative roughness feel like poor value. Wait for a deep sale if the visuals alone interest you.
