Crown of Lust is an early-access fantasy VN with ambitious scope but significant execution problems. The story, worldbuilding, and character chemistry improve as the game progresses—recent updates show momentum, particularly with the introduction of new characters and plot revelations through "the veil" mechanic. However, the build is plagued by recurring technical issues: black-box flickering that occurs randomly mid-dialogue, frequent crashes (reported 6+ times in a single playthrough), and sync problems with video rendering that persist despite community-made mods attempting fixes. The dialog writing has drawn criticism for sounding AI-generated, and some players report the combat system as functionally broken. The game is still early (v0.03), and while the artistic effort is evident—particularly in animations and character designs—the current state is too unstable for comfortable play. Patience may reward, but right now it demands tolerance for substantial rough edges.
