Editorial Has potential
Artemis stands as one of the community's most beloved visual novels, consistently praised for exceptional writing, character development, and stunning visuals that rival top-tier productions. The MC is genuinely likable without feeling blank or overbearing, and the supporting cast—especially Artemis herself—carries compelling, interconnected arcs. The story balances humor, emotion, and ethical sci-fi themes with natural dialogue and pacing that rarely feels rushed. However, the game suffers from significant platform and technical friction: Linux builds are incomplete (missing .sh files, save incompatibility), the Steam version lags far behind itch.io (still at 0.4.2 when current is 0.7+), and some players report crashes or errors on certain systems. More fundamentally, update cadence is glacially slow—months to over a year between chapters—which has led some to believe the project abandoned even when it is active. For those able to run it smoothly, the creative work is unquestionably worth playing; for others, technical barriers and release pacing test patience severely.
