Editorial Has potential
Arcan: Echoes of Liberty is a magic-academy romance RPG that defies low expectations. Players consistently praise the writing, character dynamics, and surprisingly good animations—the protagonist feels like a real person rather than a power fantasy, and the cast captures believable young adults discovering freedom. The worldbuilding, however, is underbaked: the setting is introduced superficially, and key institutions (like the High Circle) lack depth or explanation, leaving immersion fragile. Combat is divisive; some appreciate the turn-based tactical system, while others find it tedious and wish they could skip it entirely. The current build has rough edges—tight difficulty spikes, missing autosave/autoplay features, scattered proofreading errors ("to" vs. "too"), and minor visual inconsistencies (Lilly's unexplained sweat layer, missing shadows, reused environments)—but the developer is actively listening to feedback and iterating. For players who value character-driven storytelling and don't mind a tactical layer, this is a solid early-access bet; for those allergic to combat or seeking a polished, feature-complete experience, wait for a later chapter.
