Anomaly: The Rotting World is an early-access RPGM title from the creator of Aetheria Chronicles, and it's riding on solid faith from the developer's track record. The core appeal is strong: character design, writing, and atmosphere draw players in, and the dev is actively listening to feedback and patching issues. However, the combat system is the game's critical weak point. Tank-like 4-directional shooting, slow bullets, one-hit deaths, invisible collision bugs, and zombies that move erratically and see through walls have frustrated a sizable portion of the playerbase—enough that several otherwise-interested fans have stepped away. The stealth-and-survival tone works for some, but many feel the friction is tedious rather than tense. Content is sparse at this stage; expect a 2–4 month wait between meaningful updates. If you enjoyed Aetheria Chronicles and can tolerate clunky combat in exchange for character-driven storytelling, it's worth monitoring; if tight action is your priority, the current build will frustrate you.
