Alternate Existence Season 1

Editorial Meh

Alternate Existence Season 1 is a polished adult visual novel that delivers what its audience wants: abundant sex scenes, attractive female characters with distinct designs, and a serviceable harem plot with sci-fi framing. The renders and animations are generally well-executed, and the game offers enough content and branching to justify its price, especially on sale. However, the story itself is the weak point. Common complaints center on thin, repetitive dialogue; a passive, often annoying protagonist; and thin character motivation—women pursue the MC with little explanation beyond "harem game logic." The writing feels rushed or improvised rather than carefully planned, and the pacing lurches between extended sex scenes and minimal plot development. Reviewers are divided: some find it entertaining enough for the genre ("fun but forgettable"), while others find the narrative so flimsy that it undercuts even the erotic content. A few note tonal whiplash as the story shifts toward sci-fi elements mid-game, making Season 1 feel more like a prologue than a complete arc. Season 2 is reportedly underway but took years to develop, prompting skepticism about ongoing support.
